The Steward School seeks an enthusiastic and committed Upper School Spanish Teacher as a Long-term substitute from August 26, 2024, to October 20, 2024. This temporary, non-benefited position reports to the Director of Upper School.
Responsibilities
- This position will teach five classes of Upper School, likely to include AP Spanish.
- The preferred candidate will:
- Build productive relationships with students and provide an empowering student-centered learning environment that is equitable, inclusive, respectful, and supportive;
- Plan and deliver creative and effective instruction that develops critical thinking skills;
- Utilize technology to facilitate instruction;
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues;
- Post and maintain curriculum, syllabi, and grades;
- Demonstrate familiarity with differentiated learning instruction.
- The position includes other duties as assigned by the Director of Upper School.
Qualifications and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree with a major concentration in Spanish, education, or a related subject is required.
- The preferred candidate will have:
- Master’s degree in Spanish, education, or related subject and/or Commonwealth of Virginia certification;
- Relevant classroom experience, including Upper School instruction;
- Technological proficiency in the classroom, including Google Educational apps, interactive whiteboards, and electronic grade books;
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
